Dhigurah, Maldives
Dhigurah is a beautiful local island in Maldives which I believe is the best place to chill, scuba dive and see whale sharks.
Where is Dhigurah located
Dhigurah island is located in the South Ari Atoll, about 110km from Male (the capital of Maldives).
How to get from Male to Dhigurah
You can reach Dhigurah in about 20 minutes flight.
In about 1:30hr/ 2 hours by speed boat from Male which costs about US$35.
Or by ferry which goes to the island only 2 times per week and the price ins’t too different and would take about 4 hours.

Where to stay in Dhigurah
White Sand Dhigurah Guest House
A luxury resort service in a guest house! This is what I experienced while staying at White Sand Dhigurah Guest House.
Before I start this post I just would like you to be aware that in Maldives they classify accommodations as Resorts and Guest Houses, they don’t name any accommodation as Hotel. So you can expect Guest Houses to deliver a very high level hotel service.
I stayed at White Sand Dhigurah for 2 nights and in this post I will let you know how was it and the main reason why I recommend you to stay there while visiting this beautiful island.
Service
At the moment you arrive at the hotel you already start to experience of the great service, you get a welcome drink and a briefing of how the hotel and excursions work.
The briefing is very important as they give orientation about the local culture and how the guest house works.

In the blink of an eye the room was daily cleaned, I would have breakfast or something and soon my room looked like brand new.
Pick up and drop off services at Dhigurah’s Harbor are available.
Rooms
White Sand Dhigurah has 4 room types.
I stayed at a Suit Room with Open Air Shower and Jacuzzi, and I would totally recommend it.
There were times I felt like staying in the room for the whole day as the bed was simply they best I had during my whole month in the country.

Air conditioning, minibar, tea, coffee, hair dryer, safe, wifi and a flash drive full of movies in different languages are available as well.

Balcony
They have small but cute balconies.

Unfortunately, there is a construction going on right next to the guest house so the view is not great, at the moment (April/2018).
Restaurant
This Guest House has a rooftop restaurant which makes your dinner even nicer.
Breakfast is included, they have an egg station with a Chef that will cook an omelet the exact way you would like it.
I really liked their menu. One of my favourite dishes was Sri Lankan Prawn Curry, this was USD12 and I am craving about getting one while writing about it haha.
Mocktails were my favorites, I ordered a passion fruit mojito for about 3 times haha. A mocktail costs about US$6.
Don’t forget that there are specific times to have meals 😉
The Beach
White Sand Dhigurah Guest House is located about 2 minutes walk from the Bikini Beach.
Bear in mind that as Maldives is a Muslim country. We shall respect their culture and be fully dressed on the way to the beach even though it is close to the hotel.
Bikinis are allowed only in the Bikini Beach of any local island in Maldives.
The main reason why I recommend you to stay at White Sand Dhigurah
The reason main reason why I recommend White Sand is because if wasn’t for them I would not experience snorkeling and scuba diving with whale sharks, which was the whole point for me going to that island.
I had 6 nights and 5 days in the island, at first I was dealing with other companies that were making their plans according to what the majority guests would like to do. I had no support to do what I went there for.
In my last 2 nights I stayed at White Sand, Reehan (the owner) noticed how frustrated I was and told me he would take me to see whale sharks on my last day.
He made such an effort to make my dream to come true that I am forever grateful for meeting him.
Final Tip
Bring a really good repellent to Maldives.
I hope you have a great time in this paradise!

Hi, I am glad you liked it =)
That’s awesome, you will definitely love Maldives.
Since you have only 3 days I honestly would recommend Dhigurah, the beach and the sandbank are both very beautiful, it is a nicer place to just chill. They also have water-sports and if you like diving you can still spend half a day doing it.
If you want to take more tours, then Maafushi has more options.
